Week 2 a Little Bit Better a Little Bit Worse

This week I didn't get to use that much natural light, considering that it was raining a lot this weekend, this one kind of failed. But on Saturday night I did a little expieriment. Because we are not that far into the summer the nights are still really cool, so in my brother's room,(he wasn't home) I turned on the air conditioner and shut his door, then in my room I opened the window and shut the door then in the morning I went into both rooms and found that my room was much cooler, so now at night my family opens the windows instead of turning on the air conditioner. This way we are saving a lot more money, and our house is cooler. Opening windows, success. Because of this being able to turn our temperature up hasn't really been an issue. Carpooling, I carpool every morning with Doug to M.L. Day and from there we take the bus. We've been saving energy that way. Also for sports events, or friend get together's, Corinne and I are always in the same car. Also I have been doing the dishes lately so I can make sure that it is completely full before I start it and it's been fairly easy. It's causing me not to have to do dishes as often, and it's still saving energy, it's a win win situation.
Overall I think that I can definitely keep doing this. Once we get more in to the summer I don't think we will be able to open the windows rather then air conditioners. Everything else is still easy to do.

So Far So Good

So far its been fairly nice out so opening windows instead of using air conditioners has been really easy to do. Also because day light hours are really long using natural light is also very easy. Filling up the dishwasher seems to be going well also but not as well as the others. Carpooling is easy because I live near Corinne and Doug, both people willing to carpool. Because we've been using the windows we don't have to turn the temperature up or anything. So far so good energy saving has taken its tole.

5 Ways to Save

As energy efficient as my family is we still have a long ways to go. Five ways I think my family can improve on in our energy efficient ways are,
1) We can try and turn off more lights and use as much natural light as possible.
2) We can try to open windows instead of air conditioner
3) Turn the temperature 2 degrees up in the summer and two degrees down in the winter
4) We can try to carpool more often with close by neighbors.
5) Make sure dish washer is completely full before we turn it on

Mi Familia

My family, seems like an energy efficient family. We unplug everything, always, always, always, turn off lights. Also whenever we brush our teeth we turn off the water unless we are spitting. Not only that, but we try and be as active outside as possible to cut out T.V. time. We have changed most of our light bulbs to CFL. Also we use our clothes line as much as possible.
